G.O.L.F

G.O.L.F. "Greatest Of Life's Frustrations". I can't take credit for that little "phrase", but I am sure many of you have seen it on shirts and hats around golf courses this year. Well, my golf game may be frustrating at times, this is true. However, the opportunity that I have to spend on the golf course with my kids is one of lifes greatest rewards!
I am so lucky to have all three of my kids into golf. Allison has been playing for about three years. She has picked up on it really quick and last year was all conference and was one stroke away from being the conference champion.
Tyler is going to be an eigth grader this coming school year. He has played on the Jr. High team for the past two seasons. When he relaxes, he has such a sweet swing. He has really improved the past couple years and can really hit it when he gets a hold of it. I look forward to seeing what he does when he gets to high school. What I like the most is that he really practices a lot and puts a lot of time in.
Tim (pictured above) actually gave up baseball so he could play more golf this year. That was a decision he totally made on his own. The picture shown above is Tim after he got his first "official" par. Allison witnessed it and took the picture. He loves going out and playing with his big brother and sister. I am glad he is getting an early start. Look out for Tim as he gets up to Jr. High and High School.
Believe or not, Cindy has really got into it too. She actually admits she enjoys watching a close PGA match on TV! How many wives will admit that? Not many I would say. She enjoys watching and keeping score of our kids during a match. So if you're playing our kids, you better make sure you keep score correctly cause she's watching.
I always said that I would only play golf if we could do it as a family. Who knew that the plan would actually come to fruition. Too many guys I know have gone off and played for four hours while the family sits home. That won't happen to me. I will go with "the guys" once in a while. But my foursome is already set....Allison, Tyler, Tim and Me (with Cindy riding along to keep score).
Have a great day!

Update on Allison

Here's the latest on Allison.....As many of you know she had a biopsy on June 17th at Riley's Childrens Hospital. It was a four hour procedure (including the CT scan). She did great during the procedure and we were kept in the loop by the wonderful staff at Riley's. The original info the doctor has given us is that the tumor is benign. Which is totally awesome! However, the continued headaches is something that is somewhat suspicious and puzzeling. The neurologist isn't totally convinced that the tumor is causing the headaches. The oncologist is supposed be contacting us any day now on what the next step will be as far as attacking the tumor. Even with it being benign, there is still the possiblilty of it causing issues with the ventricals that house the cereberal spinal fluid.

So we wait some more and continue to pray that God will provide a healing and strength for her as she continues on with life. This has been a real learning experience for us as a family. Patience and trust is definitely something that I feel God is teaching us. I am so proud of Allison on her attitude and strength. She is a great kid, and I'm not just saying that because she's my little girl.

Thanks for all the kind words, encouragement and prayers.

My first blog

My first blog? What is a blog? It wasn't that long ago I wondered what a blog really was. Then I got hooked on Pastor Jim's blog and Pastor Rich's blog and thought it would be really cool to do one too. So, here I am, writing my first blog entry.

Just a little about me and my family. My wife Cindy and I were married on April 15, 1989. We have three great kids. Allison 16, Tyler 13 & Timothy 10. They keep us busy with all kinds of activities. From dance to golf to footbal to choir to 4H livestock...you get the picture. I work at our family own business of Hostetler Door, Inc. We sell and install sectional garage doors and rolling doors for residential and commercial. I am involved with the Elkhart Co. 4H Fairboard and just finishing up my first year on the Fairfield Community Schools School Board. So yes, we are a busy family, but we do almost all of it together.

We recently became members at Grace Community Church in Goshen. They are blessed to have a wonderful group of pastors leading them. We couldn't be happier with the church and the spiritual feeding we are getting right now. This was a big step for us and one that we made sure we took our time at so we did it for the right reasons.

Well, that's enough for now on my first blog entry. I promise to be not so boring on the next one. May God bless you and keep you safe.
